Randomness and Questions

Todays Post is brought to you by thefun and yumminess that is Sour Chews!

So while we were sick....this is what brought some fun into our germ ridden house.
Not only are these babies yummo, but they have questions on the wrappers which has provided Monkey and I a few hours of laughter...

I had this light bulb moment last night....use the wrappers for a blog post.
Why I didn't think of it sooner....who knows!

Here we go:
Which celebrity do you have a crush on?
So many to choose from....but if I have to narrow it down to just one...Chris Hemsworth aka THOR! Have been crushin on him ever since his first episode of Home and Away.

What's your favourite tv show of all time and why?
Melrose Place....and before you think...WHAT! let me explain....MP was huge right around the time I was 18-22...at some of the clubs in town they hosted Melrose Place nights....you went along, watch MP on the big screen, hung with your friends, drank cocktails. It was FUN!
My fav show based on the storyline - REVENGE!

What's your biggest fear?
Obviously as a mamma bear...somethin' happening to my baby girl closely followed by being eaten by a shark or crocodile, or finding a king brown snake or red back spider in my bed.
All very rational fears....especially the spider and snake thing!

What's your favourite animal at the zoo?
This is a really hard one for me because I just adore animals...all of them. I guess I have to admit though, I stand and watch the meerkats for ages.....and the polar bear! Love the Polar Bear at Seaworld...(not really a zoo though is it!)

What was the last concert you went to?
P!NK - Funhouse Tour...My sister and I flew to Melbourne, and met my bestie there who I had not seen in 3 years....We wore pink wigs (as you do) and had a blast....worth every dollar I spent.

How old would you be if you didn't know how old you were?
I actually don't mind that I'm 37....so I'll be 37, but can I be 37 with the body of my 25 year old self, the energy of my 20 year old self and the wisdom of my 80 year old self please?

Which board game are you best at?
I think I'm best at scrabble, but Monkey says Monopoly....I think she's wrong!

Can you name 5 countries starting with A?
hmmm....Australia (it'd be sad if I didn't get that one since I'm an aussie), America, Africa....as far as I got before I had to ask Monkey....then I had to run to our school room and find the globe so I could figure it out.....Argentina and Algeria!

What was the last thing that made you laugh?
2 Broke Girls last night.

What's your nickname at school or work?
At school the kid's called me BRAKES.....at my 5th grade dance I had these shoes that had black soles, and when I danced they left skid marks on the dance floor. So my friends started calling me brakes.....by the time I finished high school....the story had turned into a version of my pooping my pants and leaving skid marks....ah the memories!

If you could be invisible for 2 hours, what would you do?
2 hours is so limiting.....but Monkey and I decided we would sneak into the animal enclosures at the zoo...you know...the tiger, lion, snow leopard enclosures.....something you would NEVER do normally, but hey if they can't see us!

And that ends our Q & A with sour chews.
Enjoy the rest of your week.

A Few Thoughts.....and 2 Broke Girls

Yesterday was the day for mothers.
We don't get into Mothers Day around here. I don't feel like I need a special day. Before you all choke on whatever you're eating while you read this.....

In our family we never have. My mother also feels this way.
My mother has always said that she would prefer us to show her she is loved ALL YEAR ROUND instead of one particular day when we are told by society to show her love.
(I'm sure most of you mammas out there get love more than once a year, this is our thing)

I totally agree with that idea, and I have always tried to teach Monkey that its more important to show love for the people we care about all the time, and more special when its totally unexpected. I don't want to wake up on Mothers Day and know that I'm going to get a gift or a special treat....I wanna be surprised.

Last week while Baby Bear (my niece) was here, the girls came to me and asked if they could earn some money from chores because they had decided they wanted to buy gifts for each other and they needed some money to do that. So I handed out some chores and they did them with a smile on their face.

We went to the shopping mall and they bought their gifts....and some treats for their special night. So we got home and the girls locked me out of my bedroom, which makes any parent nervous.....when I was allowed in they had set up a movie....decorated my bed....put treats in bowls on the bedside table....and there were gifts on the end of my bed.
Two of those gifts were for me which I had no idea about....

Baby bear had bought me a glitter nail polish....and Monkey gave me a cup that says BEST MUM IN THE WORLD. it was a lovely surprise.
Completely unexpected.....
and that's the way I like it.

So what did we do yesterday you're wondering then?
Well since it's the first day that Monkey and I have had alone since my family landed on our doorstep 3 weeks ago.....we made pizza and spent the day being coach potatoes watching the first season of 2 broke girls.

Couldn't have asked for a better day!

RIP Warrick....Can't believe its been 5 years. We miss you x

Painting, Pancakes and Lolly Wrappers

So I know that it's Tuesday already, almost middle of the week and all that jazz, and I haven't been around since Friday.....but that doesn't mean I'm not going to still give you a weekend recap.....YES, I am still a walking germ....the flu is still hanging onto my body.

Right at this moment I am NOT loving the little people in the house who passed this flu onto me, and then proceeded to go and get well a few days later...leaving me to suffer for a few weeks......what is with that anyway??

So my parents and my niece were still here over the weekend. Mum helped me to paint the schoolroom and hall walls, (yes I painted with the flu...why not??)
The girls discovered the sand buckets I had stored away in the laundry and decided to have a fashion show....grandma was one of the models against her will.

The girls gave me a pedicure and painted my toenails gold (as you do), because "it looks like magic" and it will "help me get better"....their words NOT mine!

We had some awesome wholemeal pancakes. I was so dopey that morning I'm not even sure what I put in them....but they were a hit so....

My absolute most fantastical part of the weekend was the wrappers on the bag of lollies we had ..... we had awesome fun answering the questions on the wrappers.
Enjoy the rest of your week!

Product Review: Dove Pure Deoderants

This week I had the opportunity to trial Dove Pure anti-perspirant deodorant in our home. Of huge interest to me was the fact that this deoderant has no Parabens, colourants, fragrance or alcohol in it.

As the mamma of a tween who get eczema or a rash every time she uses a normal deodorant stick, I was quite excited for her to try this out, and guess what.....so far it's been smooth skin and a less stinky gal in my house.

Dove has created Dove Pure, an anti-perspirant deodorant that contains the ingredients essential to help keep your underarms feeling dry all day and looking healthy, whilst removing unnecessary ingredients that can lead to irritation. In short, Dove Pure contains only what you really need. Nothing more. Dove Pure contains:

• NO Parabens
• NO Colourants
• NO Fragrance
• NO alcohol*
*Refers to Ethyl Alcohol.
Its unique formula has been specifically developed for those people who want effective 48hr protection but do not want discomfort or the unsightly signs of irritation. Like all Dove products, Dove Pure contains ¼ moisturising cream to help keep your skin looking healthy.
For us, this product is exactly what I've been looking for so Monkey can feel confidant that she smells good, but she's not going to have an eczema breakout to deal with. That's a big deal to her and to me. So thanks Dove, we will be buying more of this in the future!

Link-Up: April Favourites

Ever noticed how the things you love kinda changes from month to month?
I have....either I'm a really disloyal shallow person, or it's just life and people change.
Whatever it is - I've decided to document it each month from now on as a little experiment for myself to see just how much my likes and dislikes change in one year.

Wanna join me?
Awesome....all you have to do is write a post about your likes/dislikes once a month and link up with me. Too easy right?

Here are the questions, you can download a copy of them HERE.

1. What's your must watch, can't live without television show at the moment?
Hands down, my favourite tv show at the moment is REVENGE, closely followed by Nashville.

2. What's that one thing you have been craving lately?
Without a doubt, I am going gaga over those Peanut Choc fudge things I gave you the recipe for a few weeks ago! They are so delish!

3. What pair of shoes are you completely head over heels in love with right now?
(We wanna see a photo)
So in love with these at the moment....I found them on the Styletread website while I was checking out their store and have kept going back and drooling over them ever since....I should will probably just go ahead and buy them!

4. Which 2 bloggers are you crushing on this month?
(Links please)
It has to be Erin @ Living in Yellow and Carly @ Lipgloss and Crayons
Been a huge fan of Erin for ages now, but Carly I have only just come across...how can that be I don't know because she's totally awesome! But there it is!

5. What tune got stuck in your head and you just can't get enough?
Oh P!NK how I do love her.....Just Give Me a Reason

6.  Apps? What app has you all excited?
(links please so we can get excited too)
OMGoodness - I came across this app called 360Panorama and I am in love. You can take panaroma photos and load them up, which I guess is not that exciting, but I love it!
7. What is that one accessory that you've been taking everywhere?
My new stylus pen for my iPhone....I know it sounds boring, but that little baby makes it so easy to text...my big fat fingers were just not doing the job and I had to fire them.

8. Where's that one place you and your friends have been feeling right at home?
Ha, this question is obviously designed for those who live somewhere exciting....I'm gonna have to say my house. The weather is getting cold and I like to stay in, so I've been inviting my friends to our place for dinners, movies, whatever!

9. What book has you hiding under the covers with a torch at night because you just can't put it down?
Um, I would like to pretend that I am reading something, anything.....but the sad awful truth is....I've been thinking about visiting the library, but so far I just haven't walked through those doors. Maybe I'll get there next month!

10. What's your favourite word, you know that one you use in every sentence because it just sounds so good to you?
(If you don't have one, why not, it's so fun)
FANTASTICAL - I feel like it should be in glitter it's so great - It's my own creation...hasn't really caught on yet, but give it time!

11. What fashion item did you have to have?
Well I still don't have it, but I am hunting for it.....looking for the perfect denim jacket, which you would think is easy, but let's not forget I live in a little country town where we have maybe 2 stores that actually have the potential to supply me with something like that!

12. What's that thing that has really been grinding on your nerves like fingernails on a chalkboard?
Definitely, absolutely has to be my elderly neighbour. He's a friendly fellow, but he has been using my carport for months now to park his boat, he originally asked if he could keep it there for a week. He keeps talking about trying to sell it, but so far it's still sitting there and all my visitors are parking out on the street. Every time I walk in and see that boat I wanna go over and kick it, but then I'd probably hurt myself, so I just make a face at it. So now, he has started to put his rubbish in my garbage bins....what the?? Seriously I spend way too much time at home....I shouldn't know this!

That's it! Not too hard was it. Don't forget to link-up!

Answering the Tough Questions

One of my fav bloggers, the gorgeous Erin from Living in Yellow is asking the Hard Questions today, and she's invited her readers to share in the self examination! So I thought, I've been sitting here for days staring at the screen with my snotty nose.....WHY NOT! So here goes.....

1. If you could do one thing differently in your life, what would it be?
Hmmm, this is a hard one because I'm sitting here thinking, how deep do I really wanna get....there are lots of things that I'm sure I could have done differently and ended up with the same life, but caused less pain to myself and those I care about in the process. If I'm really gonna go there, I wish I could go back and change the way I allowed Monkeys biological father treat me. I've always believed that people treat you the way you allow them to, I wish I could change that I let him treat me badly and didn't stand up for myself.

2. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
OMGoodness Erin, I don't really wanna think about this one because in 5 years I'll be in my 40's and that freaks me out....seriously! I don't know honestly, I've never been a planner.....if we're happy and my daughter (who will be 17 by then), is happy and becoming someone I am really proud of....I'll be good with that! Whatever the future brings our way, I hope that I choose to be happy!

3. Do you honestly want kids?
Well I already have one, so let's make this question, "Do I honestly want more kids?"
In a nutshell, NO! I love the babies, but I am just a one kid kinda mamma....I don't want all the stress that comes with extra kids, I don't want to be breaking up arguments all day and counting out lollies. I don't want to have to buy two of the same things because one of the kids will get upset. This may sound selfish but I'm not in my 20's anymore, I have two more years until I'm 40, I don't want to be mummy to a tantrum throwing toddler in my 40's, and I would really like to start getting some sleep soon....my 40's are gonna be for travelling and shopping, long baths and movie marathons, girls nights with way too much wine and hanging out with my teen queen.

4. What has been the best moment of your life so far?
So sorry those of you who are not mammas, but it has to be said. Hands down the most amazing moment of my entire life was the day I looked into my baby girls eyes for the first time. There's just no feeling like it and it's impossible to explain, but it's like falling in love...except way more intense, it's like you find that part of your heart that you never knew was missing until that exact moment that your child's hand in curled around your finger and their eyes are looking into yours. Your heart feels so full it could burst, and yet its so scary at the same time. It's when you finally understand that you've never loved unconditionally before, in fact, you realize that all those times you said you loved someone so much you would die for them, you were lying until now! It's when you realize your heart no longer belongs to you and never will again.

5. What is your life theme song?
Ah took me a while to get to this one....about an hour of googling the lyrics to my fav songs I finally realized this one is all me...... "I'm Alive" - Celine Dion ..... this one just makes me wanna leap outta my seat wherever I am and dance like a crazy woman. It just brings joy to my heart!
6. What is one thing you have yet to accomplish that you want to do before you die?
I wanna travel to places I've only dreamed about.

7. If you could choose one thing to be known for, what would it be?
I don't know! Thinking really hard about this....I'd love to be known as someone who loves without judgement.

8. If you could do anything you wanted right in this very moment (no consequences, no fear, etc), what would it be?
I would pack up all our stuff, buy a caravan and travel with my Monkey.
9. What has been the most challenging moment in your life?
When I was pregnant with Monkey, her father told me if I had an abortion he would stay. I was so head over heels in love with him, I wanted to say yes, okay....instead I chose my unborn child. The scariest choice I've ever had to make, especially knowing in doing so I would be on my own ... and I've NEVER regretted it for a moment!

10. Summarize yourself in one word.
Have to steal Erin's word here - EVOLVING

That's it dolls! The hard ones answered.

Since it's Friday here in the land of Oz.....have a great weekend and I'll see ya back here Monday!

Next Time Your Stuck in Bed

While I bore you with the details of how sick we are, I thought I would stop over at Pinterest and find some interesting things you can do with tissues for you, just so it's worth stopping by Domestic Mamma today. What I discovered is a whole range of tissue boxes I need to own!

Yep, so it's looking a bit like I've been super slack this week!
There's no posts on the blog and no tweets!

Well that would only be because...

1. My parents and one of my nieces are here
2. We're all sick or injured
(Baby Bear has the flu, Monkey has conjunctivitis  I have a sinus infection and dad has a broken shoulder - I think I told you about dad, maybe, I dunno). Weird how we're all sick with something different...so hoping I don't get Baby Bears flu though.

I seriously sat down and stared at a blank post on my blog for about 20 minutes last night and nothing came.....NOTHING! So I packed it up and watched movies with the kids instead.

I've been saying to everyone who will listen the last 2 months....
"I can't wait for the colder weather"

Well guess what, the colder weather is here and suddenly I'm thinking
"NOOOOOO I've changed my mind"
So here it is....a blog post all about how sick we are....I bet you're so glad you stopped by for this one...you know what I can't figure out....

Should I have a flu shot or not???
Do you?
I've never had one before, but I always get a really bad flu once a year.
Kinda don't want one this year, but kinda hate the idea of having a shot for it.
I don't know....I hate having to make these grown-up decisions.
I'm so much better with what should I have on my toast, or "mum do these shoes match?"
I remember when Monkey was a baby it took me weeks to decide about her vaccinations, because I read all the leaflets they gave me and got completely freaked out that my child could get sick, even though the odds were something ridiculous like 1 in 10,000,000.

Anyhooo, I'll be back hopefully by the weekend
Take care of each other

Another Weekend Gone

Why is it whenever I have an awesomely fun weekend I get home and I don't have nearly enough photos as proof?

I mean really I try - I pack my camera - and I always have my phone on me
I don't know what happens!

Maybe I'm just so busy having fun.
Anyhoo,

Friday - My sister and her fiancee' breezed into town and dropped off my parents and my niece, they stayed the night and very rudely woke me early the next morning to say they were going. That's pretty much all I can say about that, except I made some pretty delish pizza - which happens every Friday night at our place and we managed to make her fiancee' afraid to sleep for fear that his inlaws were plotting to prank him while he slep. This might have been true....we did have something up our sleeves...but he wouldn't go to sleep. Party Pooper!
Saturday - I headed off with some friends (with the kids in tow), for a weekend at the beach. Which we have been planning for weeks...
This is as close as we actually got to the beach.
It's been raining pretty much for a week, and then on the weekend we were blessed with snow. Sorry but I'm not a Polar Bear...so there was no swimming! The view from Jo's place
(Jo's on holiday in the USA at the moment) is gorgeous though, and it was worth it just so I could lay in bed Sat night and listen to the waves rolling in. No sleep app needed that night!
We may or may not have consumed more bottles of wine than I will actually admit to.
We may or may not have put on a Whitney CD and sang loud and proud.
We may or may not have just let the kids run riot and trash the living room.
All I know is when we woke up, there was food and toys all over the floor, and I'm fairly certain that it wasn't something I'd done!

Sunday - Pizza for breakfast (we ate a lot of pizza this weekend) before we bundled the kids in the car and just made it on time to our local hall to worship. It was nice, but I always miss my own congregation. Then back to Jo's place where we spent way more time than we expected cleaning up the evidence from the night before.
Then it was off to the club for lunch. Where my friend Lorraine ordered the "special" which they ring up on the register like this.....
Now we know why they call it the "special" don't we Lorraine???

Lunch conversation started off as, "How much fun are we having" and ended as "Let's set each other up on blind dates"...(just to be clear...we're all single mammas), not sure that's such a good idea given the fact that I know just how crazy those ladies are, but, it could be (notice I say "could be") fun to see who my friends think I should be going out on dates with. Then again, it could be bad!

So off to TOP FUN. Pretty much the highlight of the weekend for the kids.

And that's it lovelies.....
Hope you all had a fabo weekend.
Stay safe!
